Front/Back Office Medical Assistant

We have an immediate opening for an experienced PartTime Front/Back Office Medical Assistant for an physician office located in the Huntington Beach, CA area. We are looking for someone with a minimum 2 years of recent experience performing front office duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  2. Ortho experience preferred 
  3. Must have experience in front and back office
  4. Authorization experience a plus 
  5. X-Ray experienced required

Job Duties Include:

Front Office:

  1. Knowledge of PPO's HMO's, MCare and Worker's Comp
  2. Welcome patients as they contact the office personally or by telephone, and explain the services available, payment categories, and billing procedures
  3. Schedule appointments; direct walk-in patients and emergencies as per established policies and procedures
  4. Register all patients per registration protocols and collect all documentation
  5. Reviews and verifies patient coverage of insurance or other agencies and computes the charges to be paid by the patient
  6. Collects deposits or co-pays/deductibles prior to the patient being seen by the provider per established policies and proceduresInform patient of their outstanding balance, collect said balance, and issue receipt when monies are collected
  7. Review referral requests for completeness/accuracy and schedule any follow-up appointment as indicated
  8. Work closely with Medical and Nursing staff to ensure smooth patient flow and cut down on waiting time
  9. Check office supplies regularly and advise of any needs

Back Office: 

  1. Room patients, obtain vitals, patient history and reason for seeking care
  2. Follow prescription refill procedures
  3. Maintain patient records confidentially
  4. Record patient charges and lab charges for billing department
  5. Assist the provider with patient education pertaining to their ongoing health care:

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications and immunizations
  2. Clean and sterilize medical instruments
  3. Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures
  4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
  5. Ability and willingness to treat all patients with the utmost kindness and consideration
  6. Friendly personality with the desire to work with the public
  7. Performing other duties as assigned




  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.



CPR certification.
